Game Rules
Effective Date: September 14, 2026
Last Updated: September 14, 2026
1. What these rules are
These rules explain how games on Spontyx work and what we expect from players. They are part of the Terms of Service; if the two ever disagree, the Terms win. Specific numbers — how long a timer is, how many coins a mode pays, where a daily cap sits — are shown in the app at the point of play and may change as we balance the game.
2. It is a game
Spontyx is NFL trivia. Nothing here is betting: no money is staked, no money is won, and coins, XP and ranks have no cash value. See Sections 5 and 7 of the Terms.
3. The modes
- Daily Challenge — a set of cards (one per mode) that is the same for every player and resets at midnight US Eastern Time. Each card can be played once per day for a Daily result; it is the free way into every mode.
- Classic Quiz — a fixed number of multiple-choice questions on a timer; score by correct answers and speed.
- Streak — keep answering until you get one wrong or the timer runs out. The run ends on the first mistake.
- Blitz — as many correct answers as you can inside a fixed time, with combo bonuses for consecutive correct answers.
- Higher / Lower — two players or teams and a statistic; say which is higher. One wrong answer ends the run.
- Stats Grid — fill a grid where each cell must be a player who fits both the row and the column. Rarer correct answers score more.
- Hint Hunt — guess a mystery player, team or moment from hints revealed one at a time. Fewer hints, higher score. Answers are typed and matched against known names and aliases.
- 1v1 Duel and Ranked Arena — the same questions, live, against another player. Ranked results move your rating.
- Friends Lobby — a private room with a code where friends play the same game together.
- Battle Royale — many players, one question per round, wrong or slow answers are eliminated, last player standing wins.
- Custom Quizzes — quizzes written by players, shared by code. The creator cannot play their own quiz for a score.
- AI Arena — quizzes generated on request with AI; the creator sets the benchmark, others try to beat it.
Which modes and how many runs a day your plan includes is shown in the app. Some modes are switched on or off from time to time.
4. Scoring and timing
- The server keeps score. Every answer, time and result is recorded and judged by our servers. What the server records is the result, even if your screen briefly showed something else.
- Timers are enforced on the server. An answer that arrives after the timer has run out is treated as no answer. Response times are measured from when the question was shown.
- No answer is a wrong answer in modes where a wrong answer ends the run or eliminates you.
- Correct answers are what the question bank says. If you believe a question or its answer is wrong, report it (Section 8). Your result stands while we review it.
- Refreshing or closing the page does not pause a game. Some modes let you resume a run in progress; others count the run as ended.
5. Multiplayer
- Matchmaking pairs you with an available player, preferring similar ratings in ranked play. Waiting in a queue does not guarantee a match.
- Disconnecting, leaving, or not answering for the whole match counts as a forfeit and, in ranked play, a loss.
- Ties are broken in this order: correct answers, then average speed on correct answers, then total speed. If still level, the match is a draw.
- Ratings move after each ranked match based on the result and the opponent’s rating. New accounts move faster until they settle. We may reset ratings at the start of a season.
- Battle Royale eliminates players by the rule shown for that battle (wrong answer, slowest, or bottom group). Eliminated players may spectate. A battle that cannot start for lack of players is cancelled with no result.
- Lobbies are private to whoever has the code. The host may start, remove players and end the lobby.
6. Coins, XP, missions and caps
- Coins are earned for results. Each mode has a daily coin cap, shown in the app, that depends on your plan. Once you hit the cap you can keep playing; you just do not earn more coins that day.
- XP is earned for playing and drives your level. XP is capped where the app says so.
- Missions are daily and weekly goals that pay coins or chests when completed. Rewards must be claimed in the app; unclaimed daily rewards reset at midnight Eastern.
- Daily Challenge rewards are paid once per card per day.
- Everything above is a game feature. Coins cannot be bought, transferred or cashed out. We may correct or remove coins and XP that came from a bug, an exploit or a breach of the rules, and we may change caps and rewards at any time.
7. Leaderboards, personal bests and seasons
- Leaderboards show your handle, display name, avatar and score to everyone.
- Daily leaderboards contain Daily results only; mode leaderboards contain regular runs. Your personal best is the best score recorded for that mode.
- We may run seasons, reset leaderboards, and remove entries from accounts that breached the rules.
- Leaderboard positions carry no prize unless a promotion with its own official rules says so.
8. Reporting a question
Every result and reveal screen has a way to report a question — wrong answer, unclear wording, typo, bad options, outdated fact, duplicate. We review reports; a question may be corrected or retired, and you will be told the outcome in your notifications. A report does not change your own result for the game you played.
9. Quizzes you create
- Custom Quizzes and AI Arena quizzes must follow Section 9 of the Terms: your own work or properly licensed, no personal data about others, nothing offensive or unlawful.
- Questions you write or generate may be added to the shared question bank and used in any mode.
- We may edit, hide or remove any quiz, and other players can report it.
- AI-generated questions can be wrong. Check them before you share a quiz.
10. Fair play
The point of the game is that you know the answer. It is against the rules to:
- look up answers during a timed game, or use any tool, script, bot or extension that answers or assists;
- play more than one account, or have someone else play yours;
- arrange results with another player, throw matches, or farm coins, XP or rating together;
- exploit a bug, timing gap or unintended behaviour — report it instead;
- tamper with requests, replay answers, or bypass timers, caps or limits;
- harass or abuse other players in names, quizzes or lobbies.
Breaches can lead to a warning, removal of coins, XP or rating, exclusion from leaderboards or ranked play, suspension, or termination — at our discretion and without refund. See Sections 10 and 16 of the Terms.
11. Corrections and outages
If a bug, outage or data error affects games, we may void the affected results, re-run a Daily, adjust rewards, or leave results as they stand, whichever we judge fairest. We are not obliged to restore streaks, ranks or rewards lost to a technical problem on your side, such as a dropped connection or a closed tab.
12. Changes and contact
We update these rules as the game evolves; the date at the top is when they last changed. Questions or a dispute about a result: play@spontyx.com — include the game id shown on the result screen.
